650 rubles every day. Expert warns of serious overpayment for housing and communal services

Citizens are warned that fines for late payment of housing and communal services may increase significantly. Experts explained why.

- In fact, penalties for late payment are tied to the refinancing rate. Now it is 19%, so the fine is quite high. However, according to the Central Bank's forecast, the base interest rate will most likely increase to 20-22%, and fines will most likely increase even more. Therefore, you need to closely monitor and better pay for utilities every day. - Inna Litvinenko, associate professor at the Russian State University, member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Education and Science, explained in an interview with AiF.ru and reminded that from the 31st day of delay the fine is 1/300 of the daily refinancing rate.

- For example, if your debt is 10,000 rubles, you will pay about 650 rubles every day. Multiply this value by each day to get the overpayment amount. And from the 90th day, the fine for the same amount almost doubles, reaching 1,500 rubles. The Economist calculated: "First of all, we did this so that citizens could pay on time."

I will add that the Central Bank’s new decision on key interest rates will be announced on October 25.
