Russians told how to recognize scammers when buying online courses

Russians have learned to avoid encounters with unscrupulous sellers and scammers when buying online courses. Recommendations are provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs via the Telegram channel "Russian Cyberpolice Bulletin".

Before purchasing courses, Russians are advised to read reviews of the training and talk to graduates. The Ministry also required verification of diplomas or other documents related to the education and qualifications of the course authors. Experts emphasized that this is also possible on the websites of educational institutions. It is also necessary to check whether the specialization offered by the organizer exists.

Experts advise taking a trial lesson before purchasing a course. The Home Office also noted that if the training costs were high, purchasing decisions would have to be postponed. “These tips can protect you from the most unnecessary expenses and fraudulent attacks,” the post says.

If after payment of the tuition fee the organizer does not disclose access, the buyer is not satisfied with the quality of the goods and the support service does not cooperate, the Ministry of Internal Affairs advised to contact the police. The Ministry of Education stated that the probability of a refund increases if a class action lawsuit is filed against the education manufacturer.

Russians were previously warned about a new type of fraud. It is reported that the attackers are disguising malware in photographs and text files.
