Cyclone to Bring Rain and Wet Snow: Forecaster Mikhail Leus Talks About Weather in St. Petersburg on November 6
On the morning of November 6, St. Petersburg was shrouded in thick fog. Gray fog descended on the dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral and the spit of Vasilievsky Island, giving the city center a sense of mystery. But behind them, warm and humid Atlantic air was actively flowing to the banks of the Neva, bringing with it not only fog, but also short-term rains. Since temperatures continue to rise today, it can be said that the streak of cold days has temporarily ended. Forecaster Mikhail Leus reported details about the weather conditions on his Telegram channel.
- The synoptic situation in the atmosphere over the northern capital will be formed by the warm part of a distant cyclone with the center over the northern part of the White Sea. The Korean Meteorological Administration explained: "Cloudy weather is expected in the region, with light rain and wet snow expected in places."
Leus added that the thermometer in St. Petersburg will show from +5 to +7 degrees, and in the Leningrad Region from +2 to +7 degrees. The wind will be northwest, with gusts of up to 9 meters per second. Atmospheric pressure is increasing. The mercury content is higher than usual and is 765 millimeters.
However, this morning thick fog covered not only the northern capital, but also the cities of the 47th district. Thus, darkness fell on the houses and streets of Sertolovo, Vyborg and Priozersk.
Let us recall that the day before, on November 5, the press service of the St. Petersburg Emergency Situations Department warned citizens that fog was expected today, visibility would be 500 meters. Pedestrians and drivers should be especially careful.
