A highway in the Chelyabinsk region that was stuck in traffic jams will be closed to trucks for three hours
Heavy trucks stuck in traffic jams due to heavy snowfall will once again have to stand in traffic jams on the M-5 highway in the Chelyabinsk region. Due to the ongoing reconstruction of the road in the Ashinsky district, traffic here will be temporarily blocked. This was reported by the press service of the Southern Urals Federal Road Administration.
"The 1565-1576 km section of the M-5 "Ural" highway in the Ashinsky district will be closed to traffic on November 5, 2024. The restrictions are in effect from 9:00 to 12:00 local time. This is due to the next stage of drilling and blasting operations," the Federal Road Administration said in a statement.
Drivers of passenger cars can use the Asha-Minyar-Sim bypass road. The area is completely closed to large trucks and buses. The Federal Road Administration also warned motorists that from December 1, drilling and blasting operations will be carried out on Tuesdays or Thursdays, depending on the weather.
As URA.RU previously reported, on November 3 and 4, heavy snowfall hampered traffic on the M-5 highway in the Chelyabinsk region. Traffic jams stretched for tens of kilometers. The situation began to stabilize in the first half of November 4.
