Ernst appealed to the State Duma with a request not to ban deepfakes
Moscow, November 4, FederalPress. Channel One CEO Konstantin Ernst asked State Duma deputies not to impose a ban on deepfakes in Russia. This is due to the fact that these restrictions could have a negative impact on technological development. He presented his position at the session "The Future of Technology", held as part of the international symposium "Creating the Future".
As an example, Konstantin Ernst cited the experience of California, where a legal ban on deepfakes has already been introduced.
He also noted that Russia already has laws against fakes that work very effectively. In his opinion, deepfakes should be considered a special case of fakes that do not require separate regulation. To illustrate, Ernst compared this to a hypothetical law banning killing with a hammer, which, as he points out, would only complicate the bill without any real benefit, TASS reports.
There have been reports of fraud on YouTube in which attackers have distributed malicious links and hacked accounts. Experts have explained that this is one of the new methods used by criminals.
