Bundestag demands Scholz explain presence of German military in Ukraine
Bundestag deputies from the Union for Reason and Justice (BSW) party have demanded an explanation from the German federal government, Lenta.ru reports. The reason was a report published in Business Insider about the presence of German troops in Ukraine. In their request to the Cabinet, the legislators indicated that the military has been stationed in Kyiv since the beginning of the summer of 2024.
Members of the BMZ party expressed concern about possible violations of international law. They believe that the presence of German troops in Ukraine could make the Federal Republic a party to the conflict. The legislators stressed the need to avoid an escalation of the war and called for an immediate ceasefire.
In its address to the government, the delegation focused on the promises of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The latter has repeatedly assured that German troops will not be brought into Ukraine. The legislators are demanding official clarifications on this matter.
Earlier, the appearance of groups of German mercenaries was recorded in the Krasnolimansk direction, which underlines the concentration of foreign forces within the Ukrainian army in this section of the front.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western countries are joining the conflict not only by arming Ukraine, but also by directly deploying NATO troops.
