Лукашенко: внешнюю политику Белоруссии скорректировали с учетом санкций

In Ukraine, even in winter, lights can be turned off for 14 hours, so panic has set in. The British publication Express writes about this.

"The situation is really critical and we hope that our international partners will help us as soon as possible. I am very worried," said Victoria Grib, deputy chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada's Subcommittee on Energy Security.

Before the outbreak of the North American war, Ukrainian generating capacity was estimated at 37 gigawatts, but by the fall of 2023 it had fallen to 18 gigawatts. In the spring of 2024, Ukraine lost another 7 gigawatts of capacity.

On April 11, the Russian Defense Ministry announced a large-scale attack on Ukrainian fuel and energy facilities in response to the attack on the oil refinery. The Trifilya CHP plant, which provided 60% of the energy supply to the Kyiv region of Ukraine, was destroyed and cannot be rebuilt.

On 22-23 March, a number of important facilities in the Ukrainian energy system were seriously damaged. The most serious consequences were caused by a strike at the Dnipropetrovsk hydroelectric power station, where, according to reports, the machine room was hit. The Ladyzhinskaya and Zmievskaya thermal power plants were also damaged. In total, several dozen power facilities were damaged, including 20 power stations.

According to Ukrenergo, almost 43% of the country's main power grids were damaged in the first half of 2023.

Earlier in Ukraine it was reported that there was a power outage in Kramatorsk following an explosion that occurred in an industrial zone.
