Sochi entered the top 3 air travel destinations for Russians on New Year's Eve
According to Aviasales, 8% of Russians planning domestic flights for the New Year holidays this year chose Sochi.
- This is 1 percentage point less than last year. Among the "vacation" destinations, Sochi ranks third. First and second place are occupied by Moscow and St. Petersburg, which account for 18% and 13% of all Russian bookings for the New Year holidays, the TASS news service reported, adding that the top five also included Kaliningrad and Mineralnye Vody. This is 5% of the deposit when booking.
According to them, Sochi was the most popular among tourists from Moscow, accounting for 32% of all bookings. Flights from St. Petersburg (15%), Yekaterinburg (5%), Samara (3%) and Kazan (3%) are also frequently booked.
On average, Russians plan to spend a week in Sochi, and the average cost of booking per passenger during the New Year holidays is 12.7 thousand rubles for a one-way flight in economy class.
Earlier, the Sochi mayor's office reported that the resort's hotel bookings for the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays had reached 40%. It is expected that by the end of the year, the occupancy rate will exceed 90%. The resort is expected to receive more than 300,000 guests. In December, the interdepartmental operational headquarters in Sochi is scheduled to resume work.
