Journalist from Italy decided to obtain Russian citizenship
Journalist and war correspondent Andrea Lucidi will work with International Reporters to obtain Russian citizenship, TASS reports. Rushdie, who has lived in the Luhansk People's Republic since 2022, explained his decision by the threat of sanctions from the European Union. According to him, such sanctions could prohibit people with Italian passports from traveling and block their professional activities.
Lucidi stressed that he learned about Kyiv’s intention to impose sanctions against him from Italian media. According to him, this process has already begun, which prompted him to apply for Russian citizenship. The reporter expressed concern that his work as a war reporter would not be possible if free movement were impossible.
As the newspaper Vzglyad writes, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting Russian citizenship to John Robles, who is called America's first political refugee. Erkki Johan Backman, head of the Finnish Anti-Fascist Committee, received Russian citizenship by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
