The Moscow City Court found no violation of the rights of US citizen Joseph Tater, who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, TASS reported, citing court data.
"When deciding on the choice of a preventive measure, no violations of the norms of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation and the rights established by the Constitution of the Russian Federation were allowed. <...> this material," the document says.
The evidence suggests that the American is accused of committing a serious crime, his involvement is confirmed by the data of the criminal case. In this regard, there is no reason to choose more lenient precautions for him.
In the first half of August, the American visited Russia for tourism purposes. He caused a scandal when, upon checking into the Radisson Blu Olympic Hotel, he was told that he did not have an immigration card. The man was taken to the police station, where the offender beat up a law enforcement officer.
On August 14, a Moscow court arrested him for 15 days. Tater did not admit his guilt. On September 26, before the next court hearing, he renounced his US citizenship.
