Since the beginning of this year, 3.3 million foreigners who participated in special operations in Ukraine have received Russian citizenship. This was reported by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk on her Telegram channel.
"Since the beginning of the year, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, 3,344 foreigners have received citizenship for similar reasons," she wrote.
Volk also reported that the police helped citizens of neighboring countries fill out applications for Russian citizenship and subsequently prohibited any coercive measures, including deportation. The man faced criminal punishment in his home country for participating in the conflict on the side of the Russian Federation.
In late October, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting Russian citizenship to 15 people, including John Robles, the first political refugee in America. The American, born April 10, 1966, has lived in Russia since the 1990s. For many years, he worked as a teacher and international journalist.
In July last year, Ukrainian tank driver Maxim Likhachev, who stole a T-64 tank and defected to Russia, also received a Russian passport.
