Sandu declared her victory in the second round of the presidential elections in Moldova
The current President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, announced her victory in the second presidential elections. She posted the message on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
"Moldova, you have won today. Together we have demonstrated the power of unity, democracy and commitment to a worthy future," the politician wrote.
According to the report of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Moldova, after processing 98% of the protocols, Sandu received 54.43% of the votes, and the former prosecutor general of the country and candidate from the opposition Socialist Party, Alexandru Stoianoglo, received 45.57%.
On the evening of November 3, Stoianoglo said she had received reports of possible violations in the second round of elections.
On November 3, the second presidential elections were held in Moldova. The Central Election Commission of Moldova recognized the second presidential elections as valid, since the voter turnout exceeded 20%.
In the first round of elections, held on October 20, Sandu received 42.49% of the votes, and Stoianoglo - 25.95%. Observers monitoring the presidential elections in Moldova recorded 141 violations.
