Spain's King Calls for Understanding Valencian Anger
According to RIA Novosti, King Philip VI of Spain and his wife Letizia visited Paiporta and Chiba, which were hit by heavy rains. The couple arrived there to assess the progress of rescue efforts and provide support to the victims. However, upon arrival, they were met by residents who tried to sling mud at the king and his entourage, shout insults and accuse them of inaction.
During a visit to the rescue coordination center in Valencia, the king expressed his gratitude to all those involved in the aftermath of the disaster. He stressed the need to understand the anger and despair of the people affected by the floods. Felipe VI noted that the state must fully participate in the solution to restore hope to the victims.
The situation in Valencia has caused discontent among many politicians and public figures, who have accused the authorities of failing to prevent the disaster and deal with its consequences. Earlier, it was reported that Madrid would send 5,000 soldiers and the same number of law enforcement officers to eliminate the consequences of the flooding in the region.
According to the Vzglyad newspaper, King Philip VI of Spain noticed the discontent of the residents of Paiporta during his visit to the flood-affected area. The ancient Roman dam in Almonacid de la Cuba in Spain could have prevented flood damage and loss of life. In Valencia (Spain), the death toll from the floods has risen to 202.
