The law banning childfree propaganda is almost passed: what does it mean and why is it not connected with childlessness

Today, the law on large fines for promoting childlessness was adopted in the first (main) reading. The main sanctions against the so-called childfree representatives have already been described. A fine of up to 5,000,000 rubles.

388 legislators voted to pass the bill to strengthen it, and since there were no abstentions or "no" votes, all of those people were present at the National Assembly session that day. There is still a second reading left, and any amendments, if any, are usually made there. And the purely technical one is already the third.

Laws are already being reformed to ban LGBT propaganda, pedophilia and gender reassignment. In other words, popular propaganda against the child freedom movement is effectively identified with them.

"We continue to form a unified legal field for the protection of children, family and traditional values," the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, whose name is listed among the authors of this bill, proudly declared on his Telegram channel. "It is especially important to protect the younger generation from actions that impose an ideology against births via the Internet, media, films, advertising, etc. A woman decides for herself whether to have children or not. Again, it is up to her to decide with whom she wants to talk about this. However, there should be no propaganda that puts pressure on women when they decide to have children. "What is happening in America and Europe now."

During the discussion of the bill in the State Duma, Vyacheslav Viktorovich, as usual, repeatedly emphasized that there are no children and all this reflection comes to us from the West. For some reason, he cited the men's restroom as an example. "There are no urinals in the men's restroom anymore, they are dismantled. What happens at the end? Sodom and Gomorrah," he said from the podium.

What does the bill mean? The fines are mainly:

There is no doubt that this bill will "pass" in Congress. Valentina Matviyenko has already indirectly confirmed: "This document does not force women to give birth."

In just an hour, people from all over the country left more than 1,000 comments on this news in Volodin's Telegram channel. I received great approval.

However, there are also skeptics:

"More than half of Russia's population didn't know about it until legislators started discussing it."

"The biggest pressure on birth rates is caused by mortgage rates. People don't have children because they are being promoted, and because young families don't have the opportunity to buy a house!"

“The bill on childlessness was adopted, but the “A Just Russia” bill on extending maternity benefits up to three years was not even considered.”
