Maldives, Cuba and Venezuela: Tour operators tell where Kaliningraders plan to celebrate the New Year
Kaliningraders who prefer to celebrate the New Year away from home most often choose Egypt and the Maldives. Klops spoke with a Kaliningrad travel agency and found out where city residents plan to go for a winter vacation.
According to the director of one of the Kaliningrad travel agencies, Ilya Piletsky, Kaliningraders have no choice. After all, this territory is isolated. However, local residents do not despair and are looking for interesting options.
"Our only direct flight is to Egypt. Therefore, from the point of view of convenience, it is naturally the most popular. However, there are also people who choose a more expensive and high-quality vacation and go to the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates. These countries are in second place," says Ilya Piletsky.
Natalia Glustovoy, managing director of the travel agency, names her most popular travel destinations. In addition to Egypt and the Emirates, Cuba was also included in the list. Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bali, Venezuela and the Seychelles did not stand out, according to Ekaterina Zotova, who also works in the tourism industry.
Our locals rarely buy tours to Georgia or Armenia. They are more interested in organizing their vacation in these countries on their own. But in general, the South Caucasus is not in demand for the New Year, since more people go there for history and excursions than for a beach vacation, - Ilya Piletsky clarifies. And on chilly Baltic December days, many want to change the scenery and swim in the warm sand, at least in Sochi.
For the same reason, real snowy winters are less in demand among residents of Kaliningrad than in other cities of "Great Russia". "Tourist destinations around the country are not popular because people want to warm up in the winter," says Natalia Glustova.
Those who still want winter experiences mainly choose Karelia, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Kazan to celebrate the New Year.
