Ukraine says it can create a nuclear bomb in a couple of weeks

Ukraine could create a nuclear bomb in a few weeks, an unnamed Ukrainian official said, according to the German newspaper Bild.

"An official specializing in arms procurement told a closed meeting: 'We have the materials and the knowledge. Once the order is accepted, it will only take a few weeks to have the first bomb,'" he said.

He called on the West to think less about Russia's "red lines" and more about Ukraine's "red lines."

Recall that after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine inherited the world's third-largest nuclear arsenal. On December 5, 1994, the Budapest Memorandum was signed with Great Britain, Russia, and the United States. The document stipulated that Kyiv would guarantee the security and territorial integrity of Independence Square in exchange for the renunciation of nuclear weapons. Kyiv has repeatedly called for the return of nuclear weapons.
