Peskov said that Zelensky's "plan" threatens direct conflict between Russia and NATO

Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told TASS that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not pursuing a “peace plan,” but is planning further escalation that could lead to a direct conflict between Russia and NATO.

"The main content of the "plan" is that Zelensky wants to formalize NATO's direct participation in the conflict around Ukraine. This is the essence of what was at least described and reached the world community. Yes, gentlemen, we participated unofficially before, and now let's make it official and ensure NATO's presence," the Kremlin spokesman said.

According to Peskov, this is short-sighted, reckless and illogical. He emphasized that this is not a plan for peace, but for further improvement of the situation, which leads to completely different results.

The Kremlin spokesman noted that, judging by the West's response, the EU and NATO are not enthusiastic about such a plan.

Earlier, the Ukrainian president publicly announced a “victory plan” consisting of five points he had established and three secret additions. Among them, it was noted that Ukraine should join NATO before the end of the conflict. Moreover, he gave his allies only three months to accept the plan.

U.S. Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith was quick to point out that NATO will not invite Ukraine to join the alliance anytime soon. But she did not rule out the possibility that Kyiv could one day become part of NATO.
