An ancient Orthodox church has been restored from ruins in the Novosibirsk region

In the Novosibirsk region, the Trinity Cathedral, built in the village of Kolyvan in the 1860s, was restored from ruins, the NDN.info portal reports.

"The first stone building in Kolyvan was a cathedral built in the name of the Life-Giving Trinity. It was laid on August 15, 1861 and consecrated on October 1, 1867. Local historian Konstantin Golodyaev said that the building was built "with care for the parishioners," using Byzantine elements and seemed very powerful for a small village.

In the 70s of the 19th century, the cathedral was expanded. The northern aisle "in the name of the holy martyr Catherine" was built with funds from the Kolyvan merchant Kirill Krivtsov, who financially participated in the construction of the first temple. The future territory of Novosibirsk is the Church of Nikolai Krivoshchekovo. Then the Southern Chapel appeared. "In the name of Saints Kirill and Martyr Natalia.

It is known that after the closure of the church in 1932 and the destruction of the bell tower and dome, the building was used as the Pobeda cinema.

Behind the cinema there was a market, offices and a medical cooperative. The building was transferred to the Novosibirsk diocese only in 2010. In 2014, a project for the reconstruction and restoration of the cathedral was developed. In September 2024, the cathedral was re-consecrated.

Let me remind you that icons from churches destroyed in Lugansk are being saved in Novosibirsk.
