Volodin linked the film "Intergirl" with the collapse of the USSR
The Chairman of the State Duma discussed the reasons for the collapse of the Soviet Union. Among other things, he believes that Pyotr Todorovsky's films are flawed.
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma: "Do you want to see how the destruction of the USSR began? The film "Intergirl" was released during the time of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Everyone applauded. A queue at the cinema. The secretaries of the Central Committee walked around and watched. What are the results? The country disappeared."
Volodin's statement was made at a plenary session where a bill banning the promotion of children's freedom was discussed.
"Who did all this? Status!" he summed up.
"Intergirl" is a two-part feature film directed by Pyotr Todorovsky, filmed at the end of the year based on the novel by Vladimir Kunin. The film tells the story of a prostitute working as a currency exchange agent who dreams of getting married and moving abroad. The main role was played by actress Elena Yakovleva.
