Criminal case of fraud with payments for deceased SVO member investigated in Vladivostok

In particular, a criminal case has been opened in Vladivostok on the fact of fraud on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). A 47-year-old woman borrowed about 6 million rubles from an acquaintance, but did not return them and stopped communicating, DEITA.RU reports with reference to the police and the prosecutor's office of Primorsky Krai.

The fraudster took $5.8 million from a friend, who received it as a government payment. Earlier, the prosecutor's office said that this was money that a participant in military special operations in Donbass paid to a woman whose mother died in the combat zone, and the fraudster knew that her friend received this "guan money". The citizen applied for a loan immediately after the funeral, which took place in 2022.

She promised to pay everything back, providing the dead soldier's mother with receipts and a repayment schedule. She failed to fulfill her contractual obligations, repaying very small amounts on time and failing to repay a significant portion of the loan.

The victim filed a complaint at the 6th police department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The complaint was granted and a criminal case was opened. The unreliable girlfriend has already been detained, and the issue of precautionary measures against her is currently being decided. The borrowers disposed of the embezzled millions, but were unable to explain to the security forces exactly how. She lent him money to open a business, but he never started it.

The prosecutor's office explained that this is not the first time that the mother of a deceased serviceman has contacted law enforcement agencies. She has been repeatedly denied the initiation of criminal cases. After the intervention of the prosecutor's office of the Sovietsky District, an investigation began.

This is not the first time that payments made by SVO participants have become the object of criminal attacks. A high-profile incident occurred in September of this year. A 21-year-old man returned from a combat zone wounded and had his valuables taken away in exchange for participation in a special operation and disability. The man recorded a video message to the public, in which he said that such extortion is common in the Far East. This item was supposed to be a "suicide note", but the young man was saved. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of extortion and incitement to suicide.
