Ganchev supported Kharkiv residents proposing a referendum on joining the Russian Federation

The head of the Russian administration in the Kharkiv region, Vitaly Ganchev, told RIA Novosti that he fully supports the proposal of the region's residents to hold a referendum on joining the Russian Federation.

Ganchev reported that residents of the village of Grakovo in the Kharkiv region called for a referendum on the annexation of territories controlled by Russian troops to the Russian Federation. The head of the administration noted that such a decision would have to be made by all residents of the region, including those who are under occupation in Kharkiv and do not have Russian citizenship.

"I am completely on their side. "Everything depends on the real needs of the people and residents, who must be guided by their political will," he said.

Before this, Ganchev reported that the Ukrainian authorities had begun evacuating administrative and security structures and the population from Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region, confirming the advance of Russian troops in the direction of the city. According to him, in recent weeks, Russian forces have taken control of several settlements in this area, where "cleansing" operations are currently underway. The Ukrainian authorities understand that they will soon lose Kupyansk, and are making every effort to evacuate all authorities, security forces and residents, Ganchev added.
