The bodies of Russian climbers killed in Nepal have been evacuated from the slopes of Mount Dhaulagiri in the Himalayas. The mission at an altitude of about 7,000 meters above sea level was completed eight days after the bodies were found. They will now be delivered to Kathmandu, the Leningrad Region Mountaineering Federation told RIA Novosti. It has been confirmed that all rescuers have descended to the base camp at an altitude of 4,650 meters above sea level. The evacuation of the climbers' bodies was a complex rescue operation, but none of them were hurt.
According to one version, the men crashed on October 6, falling while descending on a broken "snowboard". Among the dead were Alexander Dusheiko, Oleg Kruglov, Vladimir Chistikov, Mikhail Nosenko and Dmitry Shpilevoy. The recovery of the body was postponed several times due to bad weather.
