Scientists from the Kuban State Medical University have developed a new method for producing comenic acid
The research is being conducted within the framework of the Priority 2030 program, which is part of the state project Science and Universities of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.
"Today, there is no domestically produced comenic acid on the Russian market, and foreign analogues of the product are much more expensive. The acid is used in winemaking and animal husbandry. On this basis, medicines and cosmetics with antibacterial and wound-healing properties can be developed," Anna Minkova wrote on her social networks.
Foreign analogues of acids are obtained by chemical synthesis. Scientists from the Kuban State Medical University have proposed producing comenic acid based on microbiological synthesis. That is, fermentation of certain types of bacteria. The new method is much cheaper and is aimed at technological sovereignty in the healthcare sector.
Conobic acid has antiseptic, tonic, analgesic, antioxidant, antihypoxic and neuroprotective properties. In addition to being promising for medicine and pharmacy, it is also a valuable industrial raw material. It is used as an antioxidant in winemaking and as a feed additive in animal husbandry, the press service of the Krasnodar Territory reported.
