Plastic windows will be banned from October 16: replacement will not be allowed

Ban on plastic windows from October 16: no replacements

The installation of plastic windows in high-rise buildings is prohibited, and unauthorized alterations are not allowed. This news is caused by the latest decision of the Russian army to change the approach to the installation of panoramic and French windows.

These windows have become popular for their visual expansion and daylighting, but now require preparation and approval from neighbors. Without consent, the owner risks being sued and is required to return everything to its original state.

Panoramic and French windows affect the building's façade, which requires dismantling the window frames and interfering with the common property.

Previously, courts often sided with the owners, arguing that the window frames could not withstand the load, but now the situation has changed. Any intervention must be carried out jointly with other residents.

A recent precedent was set when a homeowner installed French windows on the first floor without the consent of her neighbors. Her actions were approved by housing inspectors, but the neighbors sued, and the Supreme Court ruled that the consent of all residents was required to make external changes.

Those wishing to install panoramic windows or French windows are advised to obtain the consent of the general meeting of residents in advance.
