Insidious Weed Quarantines Entire Neighborhoods: Shigonsky in Disaster Zone
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance reported the introduction of quarantine in the Shigonsky, Khvorostyansky, Sergievsky and Chelno-Vershinsky districts.
The document states that citizens and legal entities operating in the zone are strictly prohibited from exporting quarantine products without established phytosanitary conditions. All product deliveries leaving the quarantine zone must be accompanied by the appropriate documentation.
In Russia, all species of this plant are considered dangerous quarantine weeds. Dodder has neither roots nor leaves. Strap-like stems wrap around the host plant and feed on juices, inserting "suckers" into the tissue. Dodder can find its victims by the smell of plants.
