St. Petersburg deputy proposes lowering the driving age to 16

Mikhail Vetrov, Chairman of the Association of Manufacturers of Children's Goods, Works and Services, head of the municipality of the village of Shushary in St. Petersburg, said that the minimum age for driving personal transport (car or motorcycle) should be increased from 18 years. it was proposed to lower the age to 18. 16-17 years. The appeal was addressed to the head of the road safety department, police lieutenant general Mikhail Chernikov. Vetrov points out that world practice suggests that the age at which an individual can drive a vehicle varies.

He also added that the demand for cars is growing in Russia and society should also liberalize the criteria for admission to driving personal transport.
