The killer of a baby in Yekaterinburg faces life imprisonment

Yekaterinburg resident Dmitry Kuchin faces life imprisonment for the brutal murder of his one-and-a-half-month-old grandson. Investigative Committee investigators have already opened a criminal case, the regional administration's press service told URA.RU.

"The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk Region of Russia, the Chkalovsky District Investigative Department of the city of Yekaterinburg have opened a criminal case on the grounds of crimes under Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of minors). "Especially serious crimes may entail a maximum punishment of life imprisonment," the statement said.

The murder took place on the night of October 16. The suspect was the child's grandfather, 45-year-old Dmitry Kuchin. According to one version, after he was angered by the child's loud crying, Kuchin grabbed the baby by the legs and hit his head on the floor several times. The man is already in custody. An emergency inspection of the scene by investigators from the Investigative Committee is clarifying all the circumstances of the tragedy.
