International border crossings will be closed to traffic from 11:00 to 12:00 local time on October 16.

In September last year, due to a power outage, a checkpoint in the Kaliningrad region located on the border of Poland and Lithuania was temporarily closed. On September 3, for several hours, travel through the international checkpoint "Chernyshevskoye" was not allowed.

The international checkpoint "Chernyshevskoye" (Kybartai on the Lithuanian side) is the only border crossing on the Russian-Lithuanian border accessible to trucks. Large queues of trucks regularly form here.

As the situation at the border worsened again in April this year, customs officials asked freight forwarders to use alternative routes and deliver goods to the Kaliningrad region by ferry.

At the end of August, there were large queues at this section of the border. Kaliningrad customs explained that this happens when Lithuania slows down the work of customs services. By the beginning of September, the queue had grown to 130 large trucks.
