Russians expect others' well-being to deteriorate, but not their own

According to the Russkoye Pole study (available from RBC), less than half (43%) of Russians are satisfied with their personal income. At the same time, almost half of respondents expect that the well-being of most Russians will decrease in the next two years, and another 30% believe that the well-being of most residents of the country as a whole will not decrease. 14% believe that there will be more changes.

People with a monthly income of over 120,000 rubles are optimistic about the future growth of their well-being. - This was stated by 16% of respondents in this category. Among Russians with an income of 80,000 to 120,000 rubles, 14% expect an improvement in their well-being. The same share goes to those who receive up to 40 thousand per month. The smallest number of optimists (10%) belong to the category with an income of 40-80 thousand rubles.

Older age groups (over 60) expect the greatest improvement in the well-being of Russians: 15% of respondents in this age group give a positive answer to the question about their prospects. Middle-aged people (45–59) and young people (18–29) are slightly less optimistic. 14% of respondents expect an improvement in their well-being. The least optimistic age group was 30–44 years old (12%).

Almost half of respondents expect that the well-being of most Russians will decrease in the next two years, but to a much lesser extent - individually (28%). Another 23% are confident that their well-being will improve, but the majority of respondents believe that their well-being will not change over the next two years. 44% responded.

The researchers also asked the survey participants what level of monthly income they thought was sufficient to live a decent life. Almost a third said their income was between 55,000 and 100,000 rubles. Every month. Another 18% thought an income of up to 50,000 rubles was sufficient. 16% thought that 110,000–150,000 rubles per month was sufficient for a decent life, and 12% thought that 160,000–200,000 rubles was sufficient. 9% of respondents, or 310,000 – 6%, thought that this was enough to live a decent life per month.

Based on the responses, Russkoe Pole calculated that the average monthly income desired by Russians is 156,504 rubles.

In mid-September, RBC published the results of a survey conducted by the job search service SuperJob, the authors of which concluded that, on average, a Russian needs 250 thousand rubles to be happy. Every month. The highest figure was in Moscow - 276,000 rubles and in Kirov - 190,000.

Also in October last year, the same service conducted a study in which respondents were asked to determine the level of income at which they would be considered poor. For the average Russian, this is an income of less than 43,000 rubles. Every month.

"Russkoe Pole" also found out what Russians plan to spend money on. More than half (58%) have spending plans. 24% plan their expenses from a week to a month, 20% from a month to 6 months, 12% from 6 months and more, 2% plan their expenses for 6 months and more. - Less than a week has passed. Another 38% of respondents did not have a spending plan at all.
