Two Months in the Open Sea: Man Rescued in Kamchatka Loses 50 Kg
Mikhail Pichugin spent 67 days in the Sea of Okhotsk. The man was found 23 km from the shore by fishermen on a trawler with the symbolic name "Angel".
On August 9, Mikhail, his brother and nephew decided to sail on a ship from the coast of Khabarovsk Krai to Sakhalin, but lost contact with the travelers along the way. Meanwhile, rescuers and volunteers searched for boats and even sent planes into battle, but found no one.
In more than two months at sea, Mikhail lost 50 kg. Now he has been taken to hospital. And the relatives with whom the survivor was traveling - his brother and son - died. Their bodies were found in the same boat.
Law enforcement officials have not finished this story yet. The regional road prosecutor's office has opened a criminal case under the article "Violation of safety rules on sea transport." If it turns out that the surviving man organized the trip, he could face up to seven years in prison.
