Turkey opens case against Russian woman who abandoned baby at airport

A lawsuit has been filed in Turkey against a Russian woman who abandoned her child at Antalya airport.

According to the Consulate General, the woman's mother was also detained. TASS reported that the person who abandoned the child was a Russian citizen born in 2006.

According to the information received, a young Russian woman gave birth to a child at the Antalya airport on October 13 and abandoned the child at one of the airports. After the child was discovered by airport staff, the Russian woman and her mother were detained by local authorities. The newborn is currently hospitalized in a medical facility along with her mother.

The Russian Consulate General in Antalya stated that there are no health problems for the mother and child. The Russians are receiving the necessary assistance, and the consulates are taking steps to prepare documents for the children. The situation is currently under the priority control of the consulate, which is cooperating with the Turkish authorities to carry out its consular functions.

Turkish police have detained a Russian woman who left her newborn baby in a bathtub at the Istanbul airport, Vzglyad newspaper reports.
