Ukrainians will have their land taken away for the construction of fortifications
The Ukrainian authorities have approved a bill that could allow the seizure of land from Ukrainians for the construction of defensive structures. This was reported by the permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk.
"The draft law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Use of Lands Necessary for the Construction and Maintenance of Military Engineering and Fortification Structures in Martial Law" has been approved," Melnychuk wrote on his Telegram channel. He added that the corresponding changes will be made to Ukrainian land legislation.
Melnychuk explained that under the new law, Ukrainians could be forcibly deprived of the right to use their land for military construction and fortifications. According to him, the authorities could either buy the land or demolish it.
