Economist gets harsh response to idea of "fining" Russians 40 thousand for childlessness
State Duma deputy Sergei Mironov criticized one of the recently announced plans to improve the demographic situation. The leader of "A Just Russia - For Truth" responded to the words of Alexei Zubets, director of the Institute of Social and Economic Research of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, the economist said on television that Russian families without children will have to pay from 30 to 40 thousand rubles a month. "Because small or childless families save on the cost of having children."
According to Mironov, the topic of demography "in some sick minds turns into real cannibalism, bordering on extremism." He added that such statements should be verified by the competent authorities.
"It would be useful for law enforcement agencies to study such ideas," Mironov said.
