Aeroflot ready for growth of international routes to Sochi

Aeroflot is ready to consider the possibility of increasing the number of international routes to/from Sochi airport for inbound tourism.

This was reported by the director of the company's network and revenue management department, Ivan Batanov.

“Certain conditions must be met, including the development of product packaging, its distribution abroad through local travel agencies and interest from end consumers,” explained the company representative.

He added that the Superjet 100 will make it possible to fly from Sochi to several nearby countries.

“Accordingly, we can secure many territories and consider the possibility of increasing the number of routes,” he explained.

According to Batanov, in regions where outbound tourism is permitted, the route network has stabilized, TASS reports.

It was previously reported that the passenger flow of Sochi airport for the three summer months amounted to 5.2 million people, which is less than last year. The most popular domestic destinations were Moscow (1.6 million people), St. Petersburg (426 thousand people), Yekaterinburg (314 thousand people), Novosibirsk (270 thousand people) and Ufa (191 thousand people). The most popular foreign destinations were Antalya (123,000 people), Istanbul (106,000 people), Yerevan (78,000 people), Tashkent (30,000 people) and Tel Aviv (23,000 people).
