Doctors from Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug removed a tumor from a woman with a rare anomaly of internal organs

Doctors at the Nizhnevartovsk Regional Hospital performed a complex operation on a 71-year-old patient whose internal organs were born in a mirror-image arrangement. The woman was diagnosed with a tumor of the head of the pancreas, which was compressing the bile ducts and causing mechanical jaundice.

"A 71-year-old woman with signs of mechanical jaundice was admitted to the emergency department of the Nizhnevartovsk Regional Clinical Hospital, where she was diagnosed with two important medical signs: congenital transposition of organs (mirror position) and head cancer. Pancreas. As a result of the operation, the signs of jaundice disappeared, and the patient was discharged from the hospital with recommendations for further observation and treatment," the agency was told in the press service of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug Health Department.

The operation was particularly complex due to the mirror-image arrangement of the organ, which required doctors to work in unusual directions. Specialists used X-rays to assess the patency of the bile ducts and installed an endoprosthesis to restore normal bile flow.

Earlier, URA.RU wrote that doctors at the Surgut Center for Mother and Child Health discovered tumors on two of the patient's ovaries. The cyst containing hair and fatty tissue was removed, and the female reproductive organs were also preserved.
