Consulate General confirms detention of Russian woman who abandoned baby at Antalya airport
The Russian Consulate General in Antalya confirmed that the Russians were detained after a newborn was found in an airport toilet. The department said it was ready to provide consular assistance to the detainees.
"This media report has been confirmed. "The Russian Consulate General in Antalya is currently in contact with the newborn's mother, who is in a local hospital and will provide Russia with the necessary consular assistance," RIA Novosti quotes a representative of the diplomatic mission as saying.
According to the Telegram channel, a cleaning lady found a newborn baby in the bathroom at Antalya International Airport. Two Russian citizens, possibly the baby's mother and a friend, who were planning to fly to Moscow, were subsequently detained. The child is currently hospitalized and receiving all the necessary treatment.
