Gossip-based film about Trump's early life flops at box office
The Apprentice shows the transformation of Trump from a humble and polite aspiring developer into a powerful businessman. His mentor was lawyer Roy Cohn, a former aide to Senator McCarthy. He became famous for his fight against all kinds of communists and leftists in general. After Washington, Cohn moved to the Fixer and became The Fixer. He is said to have taught Trump the art of bargaining.
And it appears that both Cohn, the lawyer who helped Trump, and Trump’s wedding to Czech model Ivana Zelnickova actually happened. While the filmmakers pride themselves on historical accuracy, their portrait of the young Trump is based more on hearsay and speculation, and more reminiscent of Frankenstein’s monster than a real person.
Trump was a nightclubber in his youth, but in the film, not only does he not do drugs or drink alcohol, he is known to have taken amphetamines one after another. They suggest that Trump may be interested in masculinity. In other words, this is straight gossip. He is reported to have had hair surgery to cover up his baldness. The most shocking scene in the film is where Trump rapes his wife. In fact, Ivana claimed that Trump raped her when she filed for divorce in 1990, but she never filed a police report and later clarified that she had been misled and that there had been no rape. This is stated as fact in the film. The film paints a very unpleasant picture of Trump, and it is no wonder that he tried to block its release in the United States, apparently unsuccessfully.
Director Ali Abbasi: "We received a letter asking us to stop everything. And when they try to show all this crap and try to interfere in the elections with foreign money, they say that I am from Iran... there is a lot of stuff there. It was not for me or the scriptwriter, but rather for his supporters. But the threat exists, and we will see what happens in the future."
The creators insist that the film has no political overtones. And the fact that the film was released just three weeks before the presidential election is just a coincidence. They say that no one even thought about influencing the election. The fact that this film is being promoted by progressive media at all costs seems like a coincidence. In fact, few people still want to see this film. After its premiere weekend in the US, the film took the last place in box office receipts.
