Wild kangaroos are proliferating in Britain

In the UK, locals are increasingly seeing kangaroos in the wild, Metro reports.

Wallabies have been spotted on the island sporadically for the past 10 years. The animals, originally from Tasmania, Australia, somehow made their way to England and grew up in the countryside. It is not known who released the animal or why. It is also possible that they escaped from a private zoo and began breeding.

The wallaby was last seen in early October in a private garden in south-west England. I have previously seen two more in fields near Exeter. Another died after being hit by a car in Cornwall.

Wallabies are a species of marsupial mammals belonging to the kangaroo family. They are usually smaller than kangaroos or wallaroos. The animals are common in Tasmania, New Guinea, and the Bismarck Archipelago. They live mainly in bushes and forests, but they can also be found in open grasslands. Wallabies have also been introduced to New Zealand and the British Isles, with the largest colony being on the Isle of Man.

Earlier it was reported that a baby kangaroo named Krosh was stolen from the Yaroslavl Zoo, and two 6-month-old kangaroos were stolen from the Vorobyi bird park in Kaluga. The thief turned out to be a gnome who planned to exchange one of the kangaroos for a rare monkey.
