Homeless people fill Vladivostok's tourist center

Residents of Vladivostok are increasingly receiving complaints about homeless people gathering in public places and disturbing public order, reports IA DEITA.RU.

Today, social networks reported a gathering of marginalized people in the underground passage near Pokrovsky Park and the "Postysheva Street" stop. And in a Telegram chat, the head of the city administration, Konstantin Shestakov, drew attention to the huge presence of homeless people on the section of Svetlanskaya Street from the Versailles Hotel to the Vladimir Arsenyev Museum and in the pedestrian zone. This is Admirala Fokina Street, also known as Arbat.

The crossing near Pokrovsky Park has long been a haven for homeless people. Homeless people spend the night there, making "beds" right on the floor. Villagers wrote that "night residents of crossroads have become part of the urban environment and can cause villagers to feel uneasy and worried," and "sleeping in public places is often accompanied by unpleasant smells and unsanitary conditions."

And today, in the underpasses of Postisheva Street, we saw a group of outcasts who had gathered on a damp October day simply to while away the time with conversation and strong drinks.

Low-income people have long lived in Vladivostok's tourist centers, including Arbat. They sleep on benches and get drunk from early morning until late evening. Even if the prosecutor's office, local government bodies, the mayor's office and the police department are nearby, it is impossible to stop them. Broken bottles and stains on the road surface are a constant sight on tourist routes. It is impossible to say whether the streets are not being cleaned or whether marginalized people produce dirt faster than utility workers can clean it.

Especially in the context of the ongoing "garbage collapse", the situation of the marginalized layers of the population makes city residents worry. With the onset of cold weather, stray individuals will most likely occupy the basements of houses and feed in landfills, growing near the entrance like mushrooms after rain.
