Sevastopol resident sentenced to 21 years for treason and preparation of terrorist attack

A resident of Sevastopol, recruited by the SBU in 2022, was sentenced to 21 years in a special regime penal colony on charges of treason and preparation of terrorist attacks with an initial sentence of 4 years of imprisonment and restriction of freedom for 1.5 years after release. This was reported by the press service of the FSB Directorate for Crimea and Sevastopol, Interfax reports.

The case data showed that the 48-year-old man collected and transmitted information about the current location of Russian military facilities in Sevastopol on behalf of foreign intelligence services.

According to the department, the attackers also attempted to commit a terrorist act with the aim of setting fire to one of the city's administrative buildings. For this purpose, he underwent appropriate training and found means of preventing fires. However, he was detained by FSB officers.

Earlier, the FSB prevented a series of sabotage and attacks on security forces in Ingushetia. The perpetrators were preparing sabotage against the region's energy infrastructure and attacks on law enforcement officers. When detained, one of them offered armed resistance, the rest were arrested.
