Former Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Ombudsman Sak Refused to Return to Politics. Insider

Anatoly Sak, the former human rights commissioner of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, has left the region and moved to the neighboring Tyumen Oblast. It was previously reported that he was preparing for the district council elections, but decided not to return to politics, a Yamal political insider said.

"Sak decided to give up further political struggle and resign. I sold my house in Salekhard and finally moved to Tyumen. He left the social network so as not to bother with old topics anymore," the source told the agency, without specifying the reasons for the change of plans.

The agency was unable to obtain a comment from Anatoly Sak. He did not answer journalists' calls.

Anatoly Sak served as the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug's human rights commissioner for 10 years until 2023, when the okrug's legislative body approved his resignation. The agency's sources later explained that Sak had begun preparations for the 2025 Yamal parliamentary elections, which led to his political activities and the creation of a branch of the Russian Citizens' Committee in the region.
