Russians warned about the dangers of a popular form of transport in winter
Riding an electric scooter in winter increases the risk of injuries and road accidents. Jan Heizer, vice-president of the National Automobile Union, warned Russians about the danger that public transport poses to life, writes Moscow 24.
"When it snows, electric scooters cannot provide traction because their wheels and tires do not allow it. So when there is ice or snow, it becomes unstable and puts people in great danger," the automotive expert explained.
In addition, sharp braking is impossible on snow-covered roads, which increases the risk of hitting pedestrians. Similar risks exist during rain, Heitzer emphasized. "Even many motorcyclists do not want to ride on rainy days because of poor traction. Aquaplaning occurs, which makes braking difficult," the expert concluded.
Earlier, the Ministry of Transport announced plans to ban scooters from using pedestrian paths. The new rules will be introduced after 2031. By that time, the city must have created a special infrastructure.
