In the Novosibirsk region, residents of Tatarsk complained about the destroyed monument to the heroes of the Civil War
Two years ago, the vice-speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Novosibirsk Region, Umerbaev, promised to achieve the restoration of the monument to the heroes of the Tatar Civil War.
Residents of Tatarsk in Novosibirsk Oblast complained about the deplorable state of the monument to the heroes of the Civil War on Karl Marx Street. The Siberians reported this to a Sib.fm correspondent.
According to the City History Museum, a wooden monument was first erected at the end of the street in 1919, and a brick one in 1948. Next to the tombstone is a memorial plaque with the inscription: "53 red partisans, shot by Kolchak's army in December 1919, are buried here."
However, according to local residents, it has not been restored for a long time (photo on the left). All the cladding has begun to fall apart, and the road to the memorial is overgrown with grass.
"Not only partisans are buried there, but also dead pilots. It's a shame to see these memories," says Galina.
Another woman said that she used to live next to the monument and always looked after it with her classmates, but now the administration no longer does this.
"We used to paint, repair and plant trees. I was in the 6th grade then. We maintained order in the area around the monument. There was an asphalt road there. On holidays, wreaths are laid in memory of those killed, but what is Olga upset about now?"
In 2022, Igor Umerbaev, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Novosibirsk Region, drew attention to this problem. This information was published on the official website of the National Assembly.
Then the deputy received appeals from Tatars and veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
"The monument is almost destroyed. It is difficult to understand now whether restoration is possible. It will probably have to be completely dismantled and a new one built in its place, based on the photograph (on the right) and the surviving model. I think restoration will be difficult. But this will be decided by experts," he said.
He added that negotiations had already taken place with the leaders of Tatar regions and an official document was being prepared.
"Tatarsk faces the task of preserving monuments to the heroes of the Civil War. But how to solve this problem depends on the objective situation. The first step is to allocate land plots and put them on the balance sheet. "After that, we will strive to allocate financial resources for the restoration of the tombstone," he concluded in 2022.
But two years later, authorities have yet to install a new monument or restore the old one. Residents plan to continue pressuring the government to allocate funds for repairs.
