Head of the Komi Republic Vladimir Uyba announced his resignation
Uyva made this statement while speaking to residents on Tuesday, November 5.
“Now our president has entrusted me with a new task at the federal level,” he said in a video address. “For me, this is a new challenge and responsibility.”
He recalled that he had led the republic since April 2020 and won the elections in September of that year.
Experts have long predicted his resignation. The possibility of the resignation of the Komi chief was discussed in 2022, which was explained by the difficult internal situation in the republic's elite.
In the September 13, 2020 elections, in which Uyba ran as an independent candidate, he received a 73.16% approval rating.
The day before, on November 4, the heads of two Russian regions announced their resignations in connection with the transition to new jobs.
Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev, who led the Rostov Region for 14 years since 2010, has resigned. Tambov Region Governor Maxim Egorov, who has headed the region since 2021, also announced his resignation.
