Simonyan called the existing Unified State Exam system a mockery of the nation
During the marathon "Knowledge. "First" in Sochi, Simonyan answered a student's question about how the Unified State Exam often causes stress in students when taking exams in this format.
"I believe that the Unified National Testing can and should be a good system. But the way it is done, the questions that appear on this Unified National Exam, are a mockery of the country, children and parents," said the RT editor-in-chief.
Some questions on the Unified State Exam are not related to the school curriculum, and some subjects, especially history and literature, cannot be included in the Unified State Exam format, Simonyan added.
As reported by the Regnum agency, in October, State Duma deputies rejected a bill that would abolish the mandatory Unified State Exam. This project provided an opportunity to provide an alternative to national exams in basic and secondary general education programs for those wishing to enroll in a university.
From 2024, school graduates will have the right to retake one Unified State Exam subject before the end of the admissions campaign. President Vladimir Putin instructed this in a letter to the Federal Assembly in February. He also called for eliminating discrepancies between school programs and exam questions.
In August, the head of Rosobrnadzor Anzor Muzaev announced possible changes to the format of the main and unified state exams. According to him, the relevant proposals are being discussed at the expert level.
