В Воронеж «возвращают» часы, у которых назначали свидания, рассказал мэр Сергей Петрин
Mayor Sergei Petrin reported that the watches used for the appointment are “returning” to Voronezh.
Soon, the Mikhailovsky Clock will appear opposite the Puppet Theater on Revolution Avenue. The mayor of the city, Sergei Petrin, spoke about the preparatory work for the installation of the cast-iron sculpture on his Telegram channel.
The first such wooden clock appeared at the end of the 19th century practically in the same place where the new clock was supposed to stand. It immediately became a landmark. The villagers were amazed by the fact that it was built in the form of a gazebo with benches. According to historians, dates were often set by the Mikhailovsky clock.
This building was demolished in 1935. And thanks to the idea of caring for the city residents, after 89 years the clock will return to the renovated Revolution Avenue as part of the national project "Housing and Urban Environment".
The new clock was reproduced in cast iron by Voronezh craftsmen with the participation of Vladimir Chesnokov, a member of the Union of Architects and the author of the project. Anatoly Strukov, a watchmaker, helped with the mechanism and the tower design.
Last week we replanted one of our maples to make room for the new St. Michael's Clock.
Within a week, specialists will pour the foundation and install the pillars, after which the installation of the remaining elements will begin.
Sergei Petrin also noted that the costs of manufacturing and installing the clock are being borne by a responsible company that negotiated with former mayor Vadim Kstenin.
