Five libraries in the Arctic region will receive new books worth over 3 million rubles

The Ministry of Culture of the Murmansk Region summed up the results of the selection of the competition for the acquisition of the book fund of the city library in 2025. For these purposes, the amount of more than 3 million rubles has been approved, it is planned to purchase more than 5 thousand books. The funds come from the federal budget and regional co-financing, the Ministry of Culture reported.

The competitive selection was carried out on the recommendation of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in order to determine which libraries should be supported first.

"The competition committee assessed the state of the collection, the need for renewal, the library's activities to popularize reading, as well as the library's plans to promote the renewed collection," the department emphasized.

Following the results of the competition, five organizations were selected that will receive financial support for recruiting staff next year. These are the Murmansk Central Children's Library, the Aleksandrovskaya Central Library System, the Severomorsk Central Library System, the Central Library System of the Kovdor Regional Autonomous Okrug, and the Lovozero Inter-Settlement Library.

"These libraries will expand their collections of Russian and foreign classics. Readers will also have access to new works by contemporary authors of various genres, popular science publications, historical and memoir literature, and children's books," the regional department of culture explained.
