The State Duma called the elections in Moldova a disgrace and a profanation
Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, called the Moldovan elections a disgrace and an insult. His statements were reported by RIA Novosti.
"Elections in Moldova are a shameful and desecrating act. An obviously unpopular president was dragged into another term by the efforts of Western leaders." The politician spoke about Maia Sandu's victory. Slutsky emphasized that Sandu received decisive votes from the Moldovan diaspora abroad, in Western countries.
"We actually lost inside the country. "Just like with the referendum on European integration," the deputy minister said. According to the politician, the active voting rights of Moldovans living in Russia were limited, and access to polling stations for residents of Transnistria was blocked.
Slutsky also expressed the opinion that these elections were held under conditions of "complete censorship, if not dictatorship." "Opposition political parties and media were banned and closed. "Manipulations and falsifications to please the West and the Moldovan people are the result of a double election campaign," the politician concluded.
On November 4, Maia Sandu announced that she had won the second presidential election and was re-elected. The advantage was achieved largely thanks to foreign voters in Western countries. At polling stations inside Moldova, after all the votes were counted, the advantage was on the side of his opponent, former Moldovan Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo.
It was previously reported that in Moldova, the police and independent observers provided different data on violations recorded during the second presidential elections. Thus, the General Inspector of Police registered about 200 violations, and the state body Promo-LEX registered more than 1,000 violations.
