"Rotten Recipes": Former Employee Shows All the Horrors of the Mozhaisk Confectionery House
Rotten fruit, broken equipment, dirt everywhere – this is not an underground workshop, but a large confectionery production facility. If all this had not been filmed by the entire company staff, customers might not have known that their favorite banana muffins and cakes actually contain potatoes from a popular grocery chain.
Immediately after the incident, prosecutors arrived at the workplace, and the bakery products disappeared from store shelves as if at the snap of a finger.
But the number of dubious snacks on the shelves does not seem to be decreasing. Strange appearance and surprisingly low prices: a cream roll for about 35 rubles, 0.5 kg children's cupcakes for 112 rubles, 1 kg of Kurabye for 172 rubles and the same amount of doughnuts for 206 rubles. It looks tempting on the counter, but up close everything is completely different.
The manufacturer of Kurabye nuts is a certain OOO Art-Kond. The address on the label is already on the outskirts of St. Petersburg. The route will take you through dirt and garbage, industrial smoke and barbed wire fences to the power plant building and the desired confectionery.
Among the scrapyards and recycling sites, it is not easy to find the confectionery production site. The entrance is completely hidden behind a strange container and is littered with garbage. Just behind the door are shelves with finished products. But they are warmly welcomed. As potential customers, they bring tasting sets and reveal the secrets of pricing.
And – a production tour. This is outerwear. Sand rings, “delicious” cookies with candied fruits and identical kurabiere were cut out with bare hands among a mountain of boxes and dirty dishes.
A pile of dough lies nearly on the floor. A rusty pan sits next to a cookie shelf. Folded cardboard has been tossed into an open box of product. Experts say these are just a few of the many reasons businesses should close.
But Rospotrebnadzor won't come. The moratorium on testing is still in effect. Meanwhile, confectionery production has already exceeded 4 million tons per year. According to official data, this is more than a thousand factories across the country.
In pursuit of profit, manufacturers are trying their best to liquidate themselves. They save on rent. That's why we have a small workshop in an industrial zone. Personnel: If the average salary of a pastry chef is 80,000 rubles, then most ads offer only 50,000 rubles, but extensive work experience is not required. Basic protective equipment: gloves and an apron. And of course, the health of our customers is also important. Many bakeries have learned to professionally reduce prices for their products.
However, this is a very favorable price for buyers. For comparison, a roll made from ordinary products: sugar, flour, eggs, sour cream, jam, etc. will cost 84 rubles. With a trade markup, which often reaches 40%, the total cost will be 117 rubles. And in the store - 35 rubles - 3 times cheaper!
Experts predict that the situation may worsen due to the rise in prices for all the main components of "confectionery products". The price of flour has already increased by 30%, oils and fats by 50%, milk by 20% and cocoa beans by up to 150%.
As the experience of a bakery in Mozhaisk, which was regularly inspected by a large retail chain (this is a mandatory procedure before concluding a contract), shows, scheduled inspections do not guarantee compliance with all production rules. You will have to pay for your sweet life in rubles or your own health.
