Former head of Prikamye prison sentenced to three years: embezzled over 2 million and received suspended sentence
CHUSOVSKY DISTRICT, November 4, FederalPress. In Perm Krai, a court found the former head of a correctional colony guilty of embezzlement, that is, using his official position to steal someone else's property. He was sentenced to three years probation. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee for Perm Krai.
"The defendant, who holds the position of the head of the correctional facility of the Chusovsky urban district, together with his accomplices organized and controlled the production of unaccounted products and timber in the colony in 2022 for the benefit of third parties. Later, he gave it to others," the local investigative committee reported.
Since the defendant had entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation, the investigators examined the criminal case against him in a separate proceeding. According to the preliminary investigation, he voluntarily compensated for material damage in the amount of 450,000 rubles. As a result of the investigation, the convicted person's property was seized in the amount of more than 800,000 rubles.
Let me remind you that IK-10 is a notorious maximum-security penal colony in Perm Krai. Mikhail Pushin took over the post early last year. He replaced Konstantin Makidon. During Makidon's tenure, the colony experienced several emergency situations. For example, several prisoners suffered nail injuries after conflicts with the administration, and a year later, one of the prisoners committed suicide. Another person was found with his head cut off in the industrial zone of the facility.
Moreover, in July of this year, a prisoner riot broke out in the colony due to the new leader coming to power. In strict conditions, prisoners cut the plugs that prevented communication. Video cameras and locks were also broken. To suppress the unrest, the government deployed riot police and IK-37 employees.
